Logging into GTA Online right now gets you 1 million in GTA 6
The claim
Rockstar is giving players who log in during a seven-day window 1,000,000 RP that carries into GTA 6.
Partly true Some of this holds up, some does not, or it is subject to change.
The giveaway behind this claim is real, but nothing about it touches GTA 6. It ran from August 6 to 12, 2026. Rockstar’s own wording, from the Newswire post of July 30, 2026:
Play GTA Online anytime from August 6–12 during the End of Summer Giveaway to receive a GTA$1,000,000 bonus, delivered within 72 hours of logging in.
That is the entire promotion. Log into GTA Online once between August 6 and 12, 2026 and a million in-game dollars lands in your Maze Bank account within three days. No missions, no purchase, no qualifying activity.
What the circulating version gets wrong
Three of the four details survive contact with the source, which is exactly why the claim travels so well:
| Circulating claim | Reality |
|---|---|
| Log in within seven days | True. August 6 to 12 inclusive is seven days. |
| You get one million | True. GTA$1,000,000. |
| It is RP | False. It is GTA$, the in-game currency. |
| It lands in GTA 6 | False. It lands in GTA Online, in GTA 5. |
The RP detail has an obvious source. The same Newswire post hands out 2X GTA$ and RP on A Superyacht Life, on Assault on Cayo Perico, and on several other activities in the same two weeks. So “RP” and “one million” both appear in the same announcement, attached to completely different things. Compress that into a social post and you get the version doing the rounds.
Why the confusion has a second layer
The name is recycled. Rockstar ran an End of Summer GTA$ Giveaway in August 2025 as well, and that one was bigger and longer: up to GTA$2,000,000, with GTA+ members getting a second million, running through September 17, 2025.
Search for this promotion today and results from both years come back mixed together, which is how you end up seeing a September deadline attached to a promotion that actually ends on August 12. If a post tells you that you have until September, it is quoting last year.
Nothing transfers from GTA Online to GTA 6
This is the part that matters for anyone reading it as a head start. Rockstar has never carried money, progress, vehicles or a character between two Grand Theft Auto games, and it has announced nothing of the kind here. The Newswire post announcing this giveaway does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI once.
GTA 6 also has no announced online mode at launch, so there is currently no destination for a transfer to arrive at. We track the broader version of this idea separately on the GTA Online character transfer claim and in what happens to GTA Online after GTA 6.
So should you log in?
The window ran from August 6 to 12, 2026, and is closed after that. If you are reading this on or before the 12th: yes, if you play GTA Online. It is a free million for opening the game once. If you are reading it later, you have missed this one, and Rockstar runs promotions like it often enough that another will come around.
Either way, the part of the claim that matters here does not expire. There is no mechanism that turns any of it into a GTA 6 balance on November 19, Rockstar has not suggested one exists, and a future giveaway worded the same way will not have one either.
