Sony built a GTA 6 theater for Tokyo Game Show, and the film on the 300-inch screen is the Extended Look you have already seen
PlayStation Japan confirmed on September 10 that its Tokyo Game Show booth will run Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on a 300-inch screen with floor haptics, from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe. You cannot play the game there. The four hands-on titles are other games. The film is the same 26-minute 49-second showing from August 27, not new footage.
Sony is putting Grand Theft Auto VI in its Tokyo Game Show booth, and it is a theater, not a demo. PlayStation Japan said so on September 10: visitors can watch Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on a 300-inch screen, with Sony’s floor haptics shaking in time with the picture and the soundtrack. The show runs September 17 to 21, 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
Two things most of the write-ups have been sloppy about:
- It is not new GTA 6 footage. Sony’s page says the theater is showing the Extended Look that went out on August 27. That is the Netflix premiere, later posted free on Rockstar’s YouTube channel. It runs 26 minutes and 49 seconds on Rockstar’s upload. Coverage that calls it a 30-minute trailer, or implies a fresh reveal, is padding the announcement.
- You cannot play GTA 6 at the show. The PlayStation booth’s hands-on list is four other games. GTA 6 is listed as a theater. There is no playable build on that page.
What Sony is actually putting on the floor
The GTA 6 presence Sony has announced sits inside the PlayStation booth. Sony’s TGS page and the September 10 PlayStation Blog post, updated on September 14 with the sticker giveaway, are the primary sources. Everything below is from those, not from a leak.
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| What you watch | Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the August 27 film |
| The screen | 300 inches |
| The extra | Sony floor haptics, timed to the picture and the audio |
| Where | PlayStation booth, Makuhari Messe, Chiba |
| When | September 17 to 21, 2026 |
| ID | Required for the theater. Sony lists the same check next to it as it does for Marvel’s Wolverine |
| Playable GTA 6 | None. Not on the hands-on list |
The four games you can play at the booth, in the order Sony lists them: Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. PlayStation Plus members in Japan can reserve those public-day slots through September 16. That reservation system is for the playable titles. It is not a ticket for the GTA 6 theater.
Business days are Thursday and Friday, 10:00 to 17:00. Public days are Saturday through Monday, opening at 9:30, with Monday closing an hour earlier at 16:00.
The shirt, and the stickers
Theater visitors get a Grand Theft Auto VI / PlayStation T-shirt. Sony showed front and back designs on the blog. The rules attached to it are narrower than “free merch at TGS” usually is:
- Large only. No other sizes.
- One per person.
- Limited quantity. Distribution ends when they run out.
On September 14 Sony added a second giveaway: a three-sticker set labelled Grand Theft Auto VI /
PlayStation, handed over at the booth if you show staff a social post tagged #PS5. That post is
about “new games” in general, not a GTA 6-only caption. One set per person, while stocks last.
We are not reproducing the shirt or the stickers. The images live on Sony’s blog.
Why this is still a GTA 6 story
Sony does not need new footage to fill a theater with GTA 6, and it is not pretending otherwise. The same company is already selling two GTA 6 DualSense controllers at $84.99, even though GTA 6 also launches on Xbox Series X and S on November 19. A 300-inch screen at Sony’s home-market show is that partnership at booth scale.
What it is not: a third trailer, a playable slice, or a new official look. If you already watched the Extended Look, what was in it has not changed. The Tokyo showing is the same film, louder, on a floor that moves.
