LOVE magazine's GTA 6 cover: a modest American dream, four new images, and Liberty City as Lucia's hometown
LOVE issue 27 went on sale October 5, 2026 with one of its six covers given to new Rockstar artwork of Jason and Lucia. The €25 copies sold out in minutes on pre-order. Rockstar's writers frame the pair's goal as a paid-off home rather than an empire, call Lucia driven and Jason reactive, and one writer places Lucia's hometown in Liberty City. That repeats Rockstar's own bio. It is not a playable Liberty City.
The fashion and culture magazine LOVE put Grand Theft Auto VI on one of six covers for issue 27, on sale October 5, 2026. The cover is new Rockstar artwork of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Inside is a feature on how Rockstar built the two leads, interviews with its writers and studio heads, and four new in-game images. Copies cost €25. Pre-orders at the Paris magazine shop KD Presse sold out within minutes, before the issue reached newsstands.
It is the second print feature in a week. Game Informer’s cover story on September 29 was about weather, wildlife and the map. LOVE is about the people.
What Rockstar says about Jason and Lucia
Coverage that read the issue agrees on the shape of it.
The goal is small on purpose. Rockstar frames the pair’s American dream as a home for the family and their debts paid off. Not an empire, not a fortune. That is the outlets’ paraphrase of the interview. It fits the tone of the Extended Look more than the tone of the marketing around it.
Lucia drives, Jason reacts. Lucia is described as determined to build a better life and unwilling to let obstacles stop her. Jason is shaped by his circumstances more than he bends them. Writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern describes both as:
“vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes.”
Leonida is the pressure. Rupert Humphries, Rockstar’s senior vice president of narrative, calls the state a “pressure cooker for all kinds of insanity.” The same coverage describes a “selective realism”: real where it deepens the world, dropped where it gets in the way of play.
None of this is a plot detail. It is how the writers describe two characters whose official bios were already public. The story beats, the ending and the heists themselves are still unannounced.
The Liberty City line
GTA Intel, quoting RockstarINTEL’s reading of the issue, reports this from writer Alexa D’Agostino:
“My mother was an immigrant who grew up in Newark, New Jersey, close to Lucia’s hometown of Liberty City.”
It is a throwaway sentence about the writer’s own family. It also repeats what Rockstar already published. Lucia’s official bio says she wants the good life “her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City.” Liberty City as her past is Rockstar’s text. Liberty City as a place you can go is not. The Liberty City travel claim stays a rumor, and nothing in the issue moves it.
Who was interviewed
GTA Intel, working from a summary of the full feature, lists seven Rockstar staff: Rockstar North co-studio heads Rob Nelson and Aaron Garbut, Humphries, vice president of art Michael Kane, writing director James Horton, and writers Gauvey-Kern and D’Agostino. Beebom names only Gauvey-Kern and Humphries, and one early report credits a different writer. Treat the full list as reported, not checked against the page.
The four images
Outlets describe four new in-game images, separate from the cover:
- Jason and Lucia in a diner booth, both holding pistols, an empty duffel bag on the table
- The two on a motorcycle
- A game of pool
- A black-and-white shot outside a trailer
The cover itself is Lucia in profile behind Jason, under the line “America’s Most Wanted.” We do not reproduce any of them. They belong to Rockstar and LOVE.
What it does not change
The issue moves no date. November 19 is unchanged. It names no voice actors, so Lucia’s actor is still unconfirmed by Rockstar. It adds no gameplay system. The fan theory placing a story scene at a specific Miami stadium is an inference from a 2016 filming permit, not something the magazine prints.
