Lucia's counterpart to Jason's ES9, the Klose K17 is a striker-fired service pistol built on the Glock 17 template, the polymer-framed Austrian 9mm that reshaped police sidearms worldwide with its boxy slide and lack of an external hammer. It recurs across the trailers and screenshots as her go-to handgun and features in Ultimate Edition promotion alongside Jason's personalized weapon.
The original is a good piece of industrial history. Gaston Glock was making curtain rods and field knives at his workshop in Deutsch-Wagram outside Vienna when the Austrian army went looking for a replacement for its ageing Walther P38s around 1980. He had never designed a firearm. He hired consultants, asked them what a perfect service pistol would do, and delivered a design with 34 parts, a frame moulded from polymer, and no manual safety lever at all. Safety instead lives in the trigger itself, a hinged blade that has to be deliberately pressed before the gun will fire. The army adopted it in 1982. American police departments, then most of the world, followed through the following decade.
The 17 in the name is commonly assumed to be the magazine capacity, which happens to be seventeen rounds, but Glock has said it was the company's seventeenth patent. Both numbers being the same is coincidence.
For GTA 6, the caution is on the name rather than the gun. Rockstar has shown the pistol repeatedly in official material. "Klose K17" comes from community analysis of that material, not from anything Rockstar has published, so treat the weapon as confirmed and the label as provisional.
