Jason raises this pistol at the close of the December 2023 debut trailer, right after the liquor-store robbery. The silhouette, single-stack frame, exposed hammer, and grip safety point squarely at John Browning's Colt M1911, the .45-caliber service pistol adopted by the US military in 1911 and still cloned by dozens of manufacturers today.

The adoption trials are part of why the design is still in production. The Army ran endurance trials in November 1910 that neither finalist came through cleanly, and the board declined to adopt anything. At the rerun in March 1911, Browning's candidate fired six thousand rounds over two days, cooling in water buckets between strings, without a single malfunction, while the competing Savage broke and jammed repeatedly. The Army adopted the Colt on March 29, 1911, revised it into the M1911A1 after the First World War, and kept it as the standard sidearm until the Beretta M9 replaced it in 1985. That is seventy-four years of frontline service.

Browning's layout also became the default. The short-recoil tilting-barrel lockup he worked out for it is the mechanism in almost every centrefire service pistol built since, including the Glock and the Beretta that the other GTA 6 handguns are modelled on. The 1911 itself survives as a competition and carry pistol, made by Colt and by a long list of others.

For GTA 6, the gun is officially shown and the name is not. "Capo" is a community label attached after the fact. Rockstar has published no weapon names, no calibres, and no statistics for the pre-release arsenal.
