Jason's default sidearm is one of the more concretely documented guns in the pre-release arsenal. The Girardi ES9 is modeled on the Beretta 92FS, the open-slide 9mm that served as the US military's M9 for over three decades, recognizable here by its cutaway slide and rounded trigger guard. It appears in official Rockstar screenshots and anchors Ultimate Edition promotion.
The open slide gives the original away at a glance. Where most pistols enclose the barrel, Beretta cuts the top away and leaves it visible along its length. There is a practical case for it, since an ejecting case has an enormous opening to leave through and stovepipe jams are rare, and a standing criticism, since it also lets grit in. The 92 won the US service pistol trials in 1985, replacing the M1911A1 after seventy-four years, and stayed standard until the M17 began displacing it in 2017.
Unlike most of the GTA 6 arsenal, the ES9 has an in-game name from Rockstar's own material rather than a community guess. What it does mechanically remains unpublished.
