Which platforms, and which are left out
GTA 6 is a current-generation console exclusive at launch. It runs on the PlayStation 5 (including the more powerful PS5 Pro) and the Xbox Series X and Series S. There is no last-generation version: PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are not supported, a deliberate break from GTA 5, which shipped on the previous generation first. There is also no confirmed Nintendo release and, as covered below, no PC version dated for launch. If you are checking whether your console qualifies, the console requirements guide breaks down storage and model specifics.
Was GTA 6 delayed?
Yes, twice. Rockstar first targeted a 2025 window, then in May 2025 announced a new date of May 26, 2026. In November 2025 it moved again to November 19, 2026, with Rockstar citing the extra time needed for polish. November 19, 2026 is the current, official date. We track every change on the news page.
Is there a PC version?
Rockstar has not confirmed a PC release date. Across the series, PC versions have historically arrived after the console launch (GTA 5 reached PC roughly 18 months later), so a later PC release is plausible but unconfirmed. We keep a dedicated PC port page tracking every signal, and it is the place to watch if you are holding out for keyboard-and-mouse or higher frame rates.
What time will GTA 6 unlock?
The date is locked, but Rockstar has not yet published the exact unlock hour. Its past launches used either midnight local time in each region or a single global anchor time, so the safest assumption for now is midnight on November 19 in your own timezone. We break down every scenario, from US Pacific to Australia, on the release time by timezone page and will lock in the confirmed hour the moment it appears.
How to be ready for launch
- Pre-order or buy digitally so the game is tied to your account before the unlock. Compare the two editions on the editions compared page, or follow the full pre-order guide for storefronts and the free Vintage Vice City Pack bonus.
- Free up storage in advance. GTA 6 is expected to be a large install, though Rockstar has not published a final file size.
- Preload as soon as it opens. Rockstar usually enables digital preloads several days before release so the download finishes ahead of the unlock.
How long until launch?
The homepage carries a live countdown to November 19, 2026. Until then, Rockstar continues to reveal details through its Newswire, trailers, and screenshots, all of which we track on the news page.
