GTA 6 is console-only at launch, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a PC release date. The game arrives November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S only. A PC port is widely expected, but nothing about it is official yet. This page covers what is confirmed, what Rockstar’s history suggests, and what PC players can do now.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Almost certainly, eventually. Every mainline Grand Theft Auto since GTA III has reached PC, and so did Red Dead Redemption 2. The open question is timing. As of now:

  • Rockstar lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S as platforms.
  • There is no PC release date, no PC pre-order, and no PC store page.
  • Rockstar has not published PC system requirements.

Anyone stating a firm GTA 6 PC date, spec sheet, or pre-order link is guessing, or worse. Treat every such claim as unconfirmed. We track the release date and every official update on the news page.

What Rockstar’s history tells us

Rockstar has a consistent pattern: consoles first, PC later. That gap is the only real guide to timing, and it is an estimate, not a promise.

  • GTA 5 launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013. The PC version followed on April 14, 2015, roughly a year and a half (about 19 months) after the original console release.
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles on October 26, 2018. The PC version arrived on November 5, 2019, about one year later.

Apply that one-to-two-year range to GTA 6’s November 19, 2026 console launch and you get a rough, unofficial window of late 2027 to sometime in 2028. That is a pattern-based estimate only. Rockstar has confirmed no date, and a real port could land earlier or later. Do not plan a purchase around it.

What a PC version usually adds

If GTA 6 follows past ports, PC players tend to get more than a straight copy. Based on the GTA 5 and RDR2 PC releases, Rockstar’s PC versions have historically added:

  • Higher frame rates and resolutions, uncapped where the hardware allows.
  • More graphics options and longer draw distances.
  • Support for ultrawide displays.
  • Extra content or refinements folded in from later console updates.

None of this is confirmed for GTA 6. It is what past Rockstar PC ports have offered, and nothing more. Expect Rockstar to detail any PC feature set only when it announces the port.

What PC players can do now

You cannot pre-order or wishlist the PC version yet, because no PC listing exists. What you can do is prepare sensibly.

  • Follow the official channels. Watch the Rockstar Games Newswire and Rockstar’s social accounts for the first real PC word. That is where it will appear first.
  • Get SixShore updates. We will publish the PC announcement the moment it is official and keep this page current. See the latest on the news page.
  • Do not buy hardware yet. With no system requirements published and a likely 2027 to 2028 window, any graphics card you buy today will have cheaper, faster successors by the time a PC build ships. Wait for real specs before spending.
  • Avoid “GTA 6 PC” pre-order and key listings from third parties. There is no legitimate PC version to sell right now. Unofficial pre-orders and cheap key listings are a scam risk.
  • Play it on console if you cannot wait. The confirmed launch is PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. See the pre-order guide for the Standard and Ultimate editions and the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus.

Will console progress carry over to PC?

Unknown. Rockstar has not said whether GTA 6 console saves or story progress will transfer to a future PC version. In past releases, cross-progression has varied by title and mode, and nothing has been announced here. Do not assume your PS5 or Xbox save will move to PC.

Why console-first, again?

Rockstar has not published a detailed reason for GTA 6, and this section is context, not a confirmed statement about GTA 6. Historically the studio ships to a fixed console target first, then rebuilds and optimizes for the far wider range of PC hardware afterward. A staggered launch also spreads a huge release across two sales windows. It is a business and engineering pattern, not a sign the PC version is in doubt. For what the game itself includes across both platforms, see the features guide and the map of Leonida.

Bottom line: GTA 6 is console-only at launch on November 19, 2026. A PC version is expected, but Rockstar has confirmed no platform, date, price, or system requirements for it. Follow the official channels, ignore invented specs and fake pre-orders, and this page will update the moment a PC release is official.

Frequently asked

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Almost certainly, but not yet. Rockstar has announced no PC version, date, or system requirements. GTA 6 is console-only at launch on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Every past mainline GTA has eventually reached PC.

When will GTA 6 release on PC?

There is no official date. Based on Rockstar's history, GTA 5 reached PC about 19 months after its original console launch and RDR2 about one year after. That points to a rough, unofficial window of late 2027 to 2028, but this is an estimate, not a confirmed date.

Can you pre-order GTA 6 on PC?

No. There is no PC store page or pre-order, so no legitimate PC version exists to buy. Avoid third-party GTA 6 PC pre-order or key listings, which are a scam risk.

What are the GTA 6 PC system requirements?

Rockstar has not published any PC system requirements. Any spec sheet you see online is a guess. Wait for an official announcement before buying hardware.

Will my console save carry over to GTA 6 on PC?

Rockstar has not announced any cross-progression between console and a future PC version. Do not assume your PS5 or Xbox save will transfer.
