GTA 6 Trailer 3: what is actually known, and what is guesswork

Update, August 6, 2026. Rockstar has now announced a dated showing: Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, premiering August 27 on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET and on YouTube and the official site at 9 p.m. ET. Note what it is not: Rockstar did not call it Trailer 3, and it did not drop anything on August 6 or 7. The rest of this page is kept as written on July 30, because how the speculation ran is worth keeping on the record.

Rockstar has not announced a third Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, has not dated one, and has not said one is coming. Every specific date circulating right now is either a prediction or a fabrication. That is the honest state of it, and it is worth saying plainly, because the topic attracts more invented “leaks” than almost anything else in the run-up to launch.

What is actually confirmed

• Take-Two’s fiscal Q1 earnings call is scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2026. That date comes from Take-Two itself. It is a financial event, not a Rockstar marketing beat.
• Two trailers exist so far. Trailer 1 arrived December 5, 2023; Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025.
• The release date is unchanged: November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Why people keep pointing at early August

The reasoning is circumstantial, and it is worth understanding rather than repeating as fact. Take-Two usually holds earnings calls after the US market closes; the August 7 call is scheduled for before the open, which some observers read as leaving room for an announcement around it. On top of that, Rockstar has historically timed reveals near investor events, where a fresh trailer supports the company’s guidance.

Industry journalist Tom Henderson has floated August 6 as a plausible date and was explicit that this is a prediction rather than a leak. Treat it accordingly.

None of that is confirmation. A publisher scheduling an earnings call is not a publisher scheduling a trailer, and pattern-matching against past launches is not knowledge of this one.

How to tell a real trailer drop from a fake

This matters more than the date. Every trailer cycle brings a wave of AI-generated fakes and re-uploaded fan edits, and they get sharper each year.

• Rockstar announces first, on its own channels. A genuine trailer is preceded by a Rockstar Newswire post and appears on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel. If it is real, those two places have it.
• No real trailer debuts on a random channel. Not on a reaction channel, not on an aggregator, not as a “leaked early copy”.
• Check the upload date and the channel handle, not the thumbnail. Fakes lean on convincing thumbnails and titles.
• Be sceptical of anything claiming a specific hour without a Rockstar link to back it.

What we will do

When a third trailer is genuinely announced, we will cover it from the Rockstar Newswire post and the official upload, and break down the footage for vehicles, locations, and characters the way we did for the earlier ones. Until then, this page stays labelled as what it is: an open question with a lot of noise around it.

Take-Two’s virtual annual meeting on September 17, 2026 was the next slot people had pointed at. It was audio-only, the agenda was governance, and Zelnick left marketing to Rockstar. No trailer. That write-up is the AGM story.

How this aged, in hindsight

Worth recording, since the point of the page was to separate knowledge from guessing. The announcement came on August 6, the day several predictions had named. What arrived was not what they predicted: no trailer dropped that day, Rockstar instead dated a differently-named showing three weeks out, and the earnings call that all the reasoning hung on turned out to have nothing to do with it. Getting the date roughly right while getting the event wrong is the normal shape of these predictions, and it is why we label them rather than repeat them.
