Vapid Creado

Jason Duval's turquoise personal car, the Vapid Creado is a two-door coupe-utility built on a fifth-generation Ford Ranchero GT, with side lines borrowed from the 1969 to 1970 Mercury Cougar. It appears repeatedly through Trailer 2 (May 2025), often with a mismatched black front fender, which is what marked it as Jason's own beat-up ride rather than random traffic.

The coupe utility is an Australian idea. The story told at Ford is that a farmer's wife wrote to the company in the early 1930s asking for a vehicle she could take to church on Sunday and carry pigs in on Monday, and a young designer at Ford's Geelong plant, Lewis Bandt, answered it with a car body carrying an integrated cargo tray.

Ford Australia sold it as the coupe utility, shortened locally to ute. Ford brought the format to North America as the Ranchero in 1957, Chevrolet answered with the El Camino two years later, and the pair ran against each other until the early 1980s.

The fifth-generation Ranchero, the basis here, is the large 1972 to 1976 car built on the intermediate Torino platform. By that point the format had drifted away from farm work. The GT trim came with stripes, a hood scoop, and optional big-block power, sold to buyers who wanted a muscle car that happened to have a bed.

That is a precise piece of character writing. Jason drives a thirty-year-old working-class body style in a state full of exotics, with a fender that does not match, and Rockstar chose to feature it repeatedly rather than hide it. What the car does in play, and whether the mismatched fender is cosmetic damage or a fixed model, has not been stated.
