GTA's stand-in for a personal watercraft, the Seashark is sold under the Speedophile brand in GTA V and Online and modeled on Yamaha's WaveRunner. A jet ski turns up early in Trailer 2 (May 2025) among the boats and watercraft that establish Leonida's canals, marinas, and open coast.
The generic term hides a trademark fight. "Jet Ski" is Kawasaki's brand name, coined for the stand-up machine it launched in the 1970s, where the rider balances upright and steers with a pivoting pole. Yamaha's WaveRunner answered it with the sit-down runabout that almost everyone now pictures: a saddle, handlebars, and room for a passenger or two.
Both work the same way. An impeller draws water through an intake in the hull and fires it out through a steerable nozzle. That has two consequences worth knowing before anyone writes about how the thing handles. It can run in water far too shallow for a propeller, which is what makes it useful over sandbars and flats. And it steers only while the jet is running, so closing the throttle mid-turn removes the ability to turn at all. Every manufacturer has spent years adding electronics to work around that, and it remains the defining quirk of the format.
Florida is the natural home for them. It registers more vessels than any other state, its wildlife agency calls personal watercraft among the most popular boats on its waters, and the combination of protected intracoastal water, warm winters, and a coastline you can follow for hundreds of kilometres without leaving sight of a fuel dock is exactly the terrain Leonida is built to reproduce. Vice City sitting on a network of canals and causeways makes the watercraft a genuine alternative to a car rather than a novelty, which is not true of most GTA maps.
"Seashark jet ski" is a descriptive nickname here. Rockstar has not confirmed an in-game name for the watercraft shown in the trailer, and the Speedophile Seashark badge is carried over from GTA V rather than read off GTA 6 footage. No handling model, speed, or customisation detail has been published.
