GTA 6 Online has 32-player lobbies

The source is real, and it is Rockstar. Unlike almost every other GTA 6 Online claim, this one does not come from a leaker. It comes from Rockstar’s own filings in the employment tribunal over the developers it dismissed in October 2025. What those filings say is narrower than the headlines.

Where the number comes from

• January 2026. Rockstar’s grounds of resistance said dismissed staff had discussed “the specific number of online players planned” for “an unannounced online service”, and called that number “a material feature of this new title”. A Discord message in the bundle, reported by People Make Games, mentions a “large session” of “32 players”.
• September 2026. At the final hearing, Rockstar’s evidence says two claimants “discussed an online 32-player format which was highly confidential at that time.”

What it does not show

• A launch lobby size. “At that time” describes what was confidential in 2025. Session sizes move: GTA Online itself went from 16 players on PS3 and Xbox 360 to 30 on the generation after.
• What the 32 is. One “large session” on one day reads like an internal test. It could be a mode, a test setup or a general cap, and the filings do not say which.
• An announcement. Rockstar still describes GTA 6 as a single-player experience at launch and has not named or dated an online mode.

Our rating

Partly true. Rockstar’s filings confirm that a 32-player online format was a live, confidential thing inside the studio in 2025, and that Rockstar treats the player count of an unannounced online service as a feature of its new title. They do not confirm that GTA 6 Online launches with 32-player lobbies. The number is not a leap either: Red Dead Online sessions already hold up to 32 players.
