One of the two playable leads in GTA 6, Jason Duval is the male half of the game's Bonnie-and-Clyde duo with Lucia Caminos, revealed in the first trailer in December 2023. Rockstar's bio sums him up as a man who wants an easy life while things keep getting harder: raised around grifters and crooks, he did a stint in the Army before drifting to the Leonida Keys to work for local drug runners.
That is close to the whole of the official record, and it is worth being clear about how little it is. Rockstar has published a short character description, trailer footage, and screenshots. It has not published his age, his full backstory, the structure of his relationship with Lucia, how the two protagonists are switched between, or whether the game splits missions between them the way GTA V did across three characters. Every detailed account of his arc currently circulating is either extrapolation from trailer shots or drawn from the 2022 leak, which showed unfinished development footage and is not a reliable guide to the shipped game.
What the trailers do establish visually is consistent with the bio. He is shown in and around the Keys, in ordinary clothing rather than anything stylised, driving a beaten turquoise Vapid Creado with a mismatched front fender. Rockstar chose to feature that car repeatedly, which reads as deliberate: the character is placed through what he drives rather than through exposition.
Lucia is the more historically notable of the pair, though the claim usually made for her needs a qualifier. She is the first voiced, non-optional female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto. She is not the first playable woman in the series, and the flat version of that claim is wrong: the top-down GTA 1 and GTA 2 let players choose from a roster of silent selectable characters that included women, and GTA Online has allowed a female avatar since launch. Jason's significance is structural instead. A two-hander built around a couple is a form the series has not used before.
Who voices him has not been announced either. The name in circulation is Dylan Rourke, a television actor with parts on Grey's Anatomy, Station 19 and 9-1-1: Lone Star, and the evidence is thinner than for Lucia: an IMDb credit, a physical resemblance, and an unnamed motion capture project on his CV. Two actors guessed earlier, Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker, have both said publicly that it is not them. Neither Rockstar nor Rourke has confirmed anything.
The Extended Look started a separate argument about the performance itself, with some hearing the voice as flat and others as a deliberate Don Johnson register. That is worth noting only for what it shows: people are reading a great deal into a voice whose owner is not on the record.
