Rumor October 7, 2026

Discord is reportedly preparing a GTA 6 theme for launch week, from November 17 to December 8

A Discord dataminer found GTA VI references in a Discord Canary test build on October 6, 2026: a limited-time campaign codenamed Hexagon with a GTA 6 app icon, a Vice City colour theme, a custom display-name font and an unnamed Discord Quest. The code runs it from November 17 at 18:00 UTC to December 8, with Nitro subscribers keeping the look until February 15, 2027. Discord removed the references about a day later. Neither Discord nor Rockstar has announced it, and it says nothing about a PC version.

Discord appears to be preparing a Grand Theft Auto VI promotion for launch week. On October 6, 2026, the Discord dataminer Wumpus Central found GTA VI references in a Discord Canary build, the public test version of the app. The campaign is codenamed “Hexagon.” Neither Discord nor Rockstar has announced it, so this is a leak from test code, not a plan anyone has committed to.

What the code contains

As described by GTA Boom and VGTimes, working from Wumpus Central’s posts:

ItemWhat was found
App iconA GTA VI icon to replace Discord’s own
App themeA Vice City colour scheme, a pink, yellow and purple gradient
Display-name fontA custom font for user names. Pricedown, the font of the GTA logos, is the general guess. It is not named in what has been reported
Discord QuestReferenced, with no task and no reward filled in
LabelsStrings reading “Promoted by Rockstar Games,” per GTA Boom, with countdowns tied to Nitro status

The dates

Date
Campaign startsNovember 17, 2026, 18:00 UTC (1:00 PM ET)
Ends for everyoneDecember 8, 2026
Ends for Nitro subscribersFebruary 15, 2027

November 17 is two days before the November 19 launch and the day before the Miami Heat play as Vice City. Dates in test code are what someone typed into a test build. They can move, and the whole campaign can be dropped.

Discord took it out again

GTA Boom reports that Discord removed the GTA VI references from its code about a day after the find. That is what companies routinely do with an unannounced partner promotion once it is spotted. It does not show that the campaign was cancelled. It does not confirm it either.

It is not a PC hint

Part of the coverage turned the find into a PC story. Notebookcheck wrote about the PC speculation it set off, and the Dutch site XGN headlined that a PC version “suddenly seems closer.” The code does not support that. An app icon, a theme and a name font are Discord cosmetics. They work for anyone who uses Discord, including console players who use it on a phone. A Discord promotion needs Discord’s audience, not a PC version of the game.

The PC picture is unchanged: no PC release has been announced, and Xbox said on October 7 that GTA 6 will not stream to PC at launch. The rest is on the PC page.

The Quest is the one open part. Discord Quests usually ask you to play or watch something to earn a reward, and the reward field here is blank. Nothing in the code says what GTA 6 players would be asked to do, or on what platform.

The awkward part

Discord is also one of the two companies Take-Two took to federal court in August, to identify who spread the leaked footage across three Discord servers. The record is on Take-Two goes to federal court. A paid promotion and a subpoena come from different departments and neither cancels the other. It is still worth knowing that the platform Rockstar’s lawyers are pursuing is the one carrying Rockstar’s launch-week branding, if this goes ahead.

What would confirm it

An announcement from Discord or Rockstar, or the theme showing up for users on November 17. Until then, treat the dates and the contents as what a test build said on October 6.
