The standout heavy-weapon moment of the May 2025 second trailer belongs to Lucia, who leans out of a moving car and lobs a grenade that shreds three pursuing police cruisers. The launcher's rotary cylinder marks it as a Milkor MGL-type, the South African-designed multiple grenade launcher that feeds six 40mm rounds from a revolving drum.

The real weapon was designed in South Africa around 1980 and solved a specific problem. Single-shot 40mm launchers of the era broke open like a shotgun and had to be reloaded after every round, which is workable on a range and useless in a firefight.

Milkor's answer was a spring-driven cylinder holding six grenades, so an operator could put all six downrange in a few seconds. The cylinder is wound by hand like a clock spring before loading, and it indexes automatically as the trigger is pulled.

It was successful enough to be adopted well outside South Africa. The US Marine Corps fielded a version as the M32, and variants are in service with a long list of militaries and police units.

Whether the shot is representative of how the weapon behaves in play is unknown. Trailers are edited for effect, and Rockstar has published no weapon statistics, no ammunition economy, and no name for this launcher. Three cars destroyed with one round is a trailer beat, not a specification.
