GTA 6 has hunting and fishing like Red Dead Redemption 2
The claim
You can hunt animals and fish in GTA 6, using systems carried over from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rumor Circulating widely but not officially confirmed. Treat with caution.
Plausible, but unconfirmed. Hunting and fishing are among the most requested GTA 6 features, and the idea is fed by the game’s swampy Leonida setting and Rockstar’s own Red Dead Redemption 2, which had deep systems for both.
Where the claim comes from
The activity claims trace back to the 2022 leak and later datamine talk, not to an official Rockstar source. The trailers do show a rich animal ecosystem, including alligators, sharks, dolphins, and wading birds, which is real and confirmed on screen.
The gap
Wildlife appearing in a trailer is not the same as a confirmed hunting or fishing mechanic. Rockstar has not said you can hunt or fish, nor shown either activity in official footage. Until it does, treat these as expected, not confirmed.

Rumor. Likely given the setting and studio history, but not officially confirmed. See the animals and activities we can actually source on the wildlife and activities page.
